FaderLog — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

FaderLog records audio straight from a USB DJ mixer or audio interface connected to your Android phone. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data. In short: your recordings never leave your device unless you share them, and FaderLog does not sell any data. The only thing the app ever sends by itself is an optional, anonymous compatibility report, and only if you turn it on.

What FaderLog stores

None of this is uploaded to us or anyone else. Files in the shared Music and Movies folders can be seen by other apps you have given media access, as with any music or video on your phone.

What FaderLog does not do

Compatibility reports (optional)

Compatibility reports are off unless you turn them on. FaderLog asks once, and you can change your answer any time in Settings → Hardware.

When they are on, FaderLog sends a short report when you connect a USB device or finish a recording. A report contains:

With reports off, if a device fails to connect, fails to start a recording or fails the compatibility check, FaderLog may ask you, once for that device, whether to send one report about that failure. A yes sends that single report and turns nothing else on.

A report never contains audio, file names, recording lengths, what you tap in the app, or any identifier that ties it to you or your phone — not even the Report ID — so two reports cannot be linked to each other. Like any internet request it reaches our server from your IP address; the address is not stored with the report.

We use reports only to see which mixers and audio interfaces people use and to fix the ones that fail. They are kept on Amazon Web Services, which hosts them for us, for up to 12 months, and are not sold or shared with anyone else. Turning reports off stops them immediately and discards any that were waiting to be sent.

Sharing

Your recordings leave the device only when you explicitly choose to share them, for example via the Android share sheet. What happens after that is up to the app you share to.

Purchases

The one-time Pro unlock is processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment; FaderLog only receives confirmation that the purchase succeeded and stores an unlock flag locally. We do not see or store your payment details. Google's handling of payment data is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Diagnostic logs and support

If you choose to send a debug log, FaderLog builds a text file and hands it to the Android share sheet; you pick where it goes (normally an email to support). The log contains your phone's make, model and Android version, the app version, technical details of attached USB devices, the app's own technical log (which can include recording file names), and a random Report ID created on your device so a log can be matched to a support email. It is only created and sent when you start it — never collected automatically.

When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you send, and use it only to reply and fix the problem you reported.

Permissions

Children

FaderLog is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
